World’s First Ultrasonic Contact Lens Cleaner When inventor and entrepreneur Helmut Weber arrived in Silicon Valley, California, via West Germany, he entered the United States with the Visonic Dome prototype in his pocket and without a word of English to explain what it did. He pitched his idea of an ultrasonic contact lens cleaner to CooperVision, the world’s largest eye care company.
At CooperVision, research and development of the Visonic Dome continued and was perfected. In 1989, the Visonic Dome made its world debut in New York City at Vision Expo East, the world’s premier eye care convention. In just 72 hours, industry leaders and eye care specialists pre-ordered 5,000 Visonic Dome contact lens cleaners and thus funded the very first production run.
Later, the Visonic Dome design was produced by Californian company Alpha Vista Inc. and sold under the tradename “LenSoClean” from the shelves of thousands of optometrists and retailers, including Walmart and Walgreens. 250,000 devices were sold worldwide before production finally ceased in
2002.

Led by Daniel Weber, son of Visonic Dome inventor, Helmut Weber, this limited edition is exclusively for the first 1,989 backers – to recall the original debut at Vision Expo East in 1989 -- is offered at a special discounted price of $83 (-16% off $99 estimated retail value.
